ransom riggs is an american writer, filmmaker, journalist and photograph.
the first book he wrote was the sherlock holmes handbook but he got famous for miss peregrine’s home for peculiar children which i'll talk about.
Riggs had collected curious vernacular photographs and approached his publisher, Quirk Books, about using some of them in a picture book. On the suggestion of an editor, Riggs used the photographs as a guide from which to put together a narrative. The resulting book was Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, which made The New York Times Best Seller list, and was adapted into the 2016 film of the same name.

about the story
jacob portman is a 16 year old guy from america. he was always fascinated by the storys that his grandfather abraham told him about a home for peculiar children but when he got older he got more suspicious and thought those are just fantasy storys.
one day abe called jacob and talked about 'monsters', that founded him and that they're going to kill him.
jake drove to his grandfathers house to help him call down.. he found his grandfather nearly death in the kinda forrest thing behind his house. abes last words were "find the bird. the loop. september 3rd 1940."
since jacobs grandfather died he became nightmares about what happened to abe.
everyone tried to tell jake that some dogs attacked his grandpa but he was sure that he saw a kind of monster in the night abraham died.
somehow jacob found out what his grandpa meant and somehow he got to the island.

okay so yeah he gets to this island cairnholm in wales and gets into the loop and met the peculiars and yeah they have to fight this monsters and all the stuff.
so if you wanna know what will happen just read it.

okay so they were this peculiars led by this guy called caul bentham and they wanted to be immortal. like being immortal without being in a loop.
so this peculiars founded an old loop in siberia and made this experiment of 1908.
however, they fucked up and the peculiars became hollowgasts.
hollowgasts are this monsters that jake saw and they are for everyone invisible except for abe and jake because how can someone be a hero without being special right?
well everyone else can only see the shadows, that's a reason why they hunt at night you can also see them if they're eating someone.
hollowgast can remeber their past and stuff like that what's kinda weird because they don't look like they would have a brain. lol.
so this hollows look like slendermen with tentacles inside their mouth.
this monsters eat everything and everyone because that's what monsters do.
if they eat enough peculiar souls they become a wight.
so let's carry on with wights.
so when they change to wights they become visible to everyone but they can't remember their past.
so this guys look exactly like humans except that they have pupil-less, white eyes.
they have spent years in infiltrating both normal and peculiar society.
so yeah they fight and kill everyone and they want the control of the peculiars and to get immortal.

she's younger i think in the movie.
and she has an other character.
in the books she's more mysterious and quite.
and in the movies she has more energy and is friendlier.

he's a bit more of a comedian in the movie..
he's really similar to the one in the book.
enoch o'connor
sooo in the movie enoch is from scotland.
he's also the oldest in the movie.
and he looks fucking awesome.
the twins
so the twins aren't really in the books.
there's just the picture abe has.
in the movie they have the peculiarity to change people into stone.
like medusa once.
or like the basilisc.
so yeah there is a lot more about them in the movie.
my opinion
sooooo let's get it started with what i think about the book, the movie and all this kind of stuff.
i think the book is really good. it's written in a interesting way so you want to carry on reading. the german version is written tooooo long. everything is described too good and it gets kinda boring.
so if you wanna read it, well i think it's more interesting in english.
it's also intelligent of ransom riggs to not really write a real end so you want to read the next book.
the movie is made really good, not just the actors played great but also the special effects.
it's also one of my favourite movies now.
so at all it's something for people that love fantasy things. it's also pretty cool that there are not just this normal peculiarities like always but also this random things like hugh with bees in his stomach or claire with a mouth on the back of her head.
so yeah i really like it.
i don't know how to end this but well let's try..
